Short Story
Chris Yeager is the name of the one who was once a famous magician. He was the most known in the Vegas strip whose tricks ranged from simple card tricks to the disappearance of any material or live object. He was at the peak of his magical career earning millions in revenue and living the life of a true star until it all came to an end doing what he does best.
Like many magicians Chris’s career started in his teens simply manipulating cards and learning techniques which he could then show off to his fellow classmates, he wanted attention he wanted all to know him and he accomplished it. One time he even performed for his high school talent show and one first place, from then on his hobby sky rocketed and eventually became his career. He started off with little gigs here and there they were great except for the fact that he knew nothing about publicizing himself and becoming big- a star. But who needs to know any of that when a sponsor is among the crowd and simply offers you a deal. Well luckily for Chris that’s exactly what happened some one sponsored him and within a few months he became huge in his city and soon expanded his horizons and then came Vegas where every performer can have the chance to shine and he did, he shined brighter than any star that ever landed in Vegas. Chris was now earning hundreds of thousands a night and gaining millions and millions of fans but not without taking risks. He took many of them; well he had to at least to keep the audience at the edge of their seats, nobody wants to see the same trick twice. So he thought of new acts and new tricks. Though this went well for a couple of months he soon was running out of ideas so hard times called for hard measures and so he researched and researched until he found the perfect trick. It had no name so he called it “The Catch of death”. This crazy trick consisted of a gun a bullet and him trying to catch the bullet. This is one of the most dangerous tricks for any performer. One because Magician’s insurance does not cover the death from bullet or the death of any other person. Two because well…even a fraction of error can cause death, better said any error is equal to death when attempting this trick. Much hype was created on the behalf of this trick and why not since no magician dared try this trick for they have zero room for error. So Chris’s show began that night he started off with little warm-ups and card tricks and slowly moved on with the harder and more dangerous performances until the time came for the main act of the show. For “The Catch Of Death” he grabbed a real bullet asked a person from the audience to inscribe their initials on the bullet on the casing and on the bullet itself once done his assistant backstage would do the same on wax bullet then place a previously fired bullet in a compartment on a bullet proof vest
So when Chris placed his vest on he would grab the bullet and place it in his mouth so when the wax bullet was shot it would hit his vest already melted the casing would be on the floor with the right initials the wax bullet would be dissolved to give the effect of Chris getting shot and the already previously fired bullet would be in his mouth which he would then show to the audience. All this was perfectly planned and executed except for the one factor that a man who despised Chris shot him in the head right after the act was completed. And thus the tragedy of this once great magician is concluded.
